Why reduce paper?
In 2014, China alone produced and consumed over 107 million metric tons of paper and cardboard, that is 2.5 billion trees. This causes mass deforestation, contributing to the loss of species and to climate change. Printing and photocopying are two of the ways we consume paper at our school.
Not only is the consumption of paper an issue but when paper is coated in plastic, it becomes even more terrible for the environment. Lamination and glossed paper are usually used for tickets and cards at NIS. When discarded, each individual ticket finds its way to a landfill or is incinerated to produce even more air pollution.
